Yoon Bae is a British-Korean designer, born and brought up in Seoul, currently based in London. Yoon took her BA degree in Fine Art at Middlesex University (Hornsey School of Art). She subsequently achieved a place on the Advanced Diploma Theatre Design course at Central School of Speech & Drama, and later received an MA in Theatre Design from the Slade School of Fine Art at UCL. For the Edinburgh International Festival in 2005, Yoon was commissioned by Stellar Quines Theatre Company to design Three Thousand Troubled Threads, which premiered at the Royal Lyceum Theatre, Edinburgh and the Byre Theatre. She also designed Picasso’s Women and Wounds to the Face, both of which premiered at the Assembly Rooms during previous Edinburgh Festivals. Later Picasso’s Women was revived for ATG and Andy Jordan Productions - she designed Gaby starring Jerry Hall, Francoise starring Cherie Lunghi and Marie Therese with Candida Benson. Yoon collaborated with Vivienne Westwood on Jerry Hall’s costume for Gaby. In Korea, Yoon designed the musical Music In My Heart, which had 6 nominations for the 12th Korea Musical Awards in 2006 (PMC, Jayu Theatre, Seoul). Also, she designed the musical The Full Monty (Yonkang Hall, Seoul) and Patrick Marber’s Closer (Towol Theatre at Seoul Arts Centre). Yoon is an artistic associate to Stellar Quines Theatre Company, and a member of the Equity and the Society of British Theatre Designers and the ABTT.
